What is DVD Authoring?

"Authoring" is the process of creating a DVD master for replication. This involves collating all the assets - video, audio, still images, subtitles etc - and linking them together so that people can access them effectively when watching the DVD. Often we also offer design services as part of this process, creating attractive, compelling and effective menus for the DVD. We work out the bit-budget - ensuring that everything fits onto the disc at the best possible quality. Finally we produce check-discs and a DLT master tape to send to the plant.
